(Laurel, MD) On Monday, April 22, 2024, Laurel Mayor Keith R. Sydnor, and the City Council passed Resolution No. 2-2024 establishing the City of Laurel Multicultural Advisory Committee.
The committee, comprised of city residents and business owners, aims to advance the city’s multicultural agenda, underscoring its dedication to nurturing a diverse and inclusive environment for all residents. Its responsibilities include coordinating and advising the Mayor, City Council, city departments, and the community on issues affecting multicultural communities, formulating strategies to address them, educating the community about the city's cultural diversity, recognizing individuals in the community who contribute to diversity initiatives, and organizing the annual Community and Culture Day Festival, scheduled for the second Saturday of September each year.
Mayor Keith Sydnor invites individuals with a passion for enhancing cultural diversity in the City of Laurel to apply. Selected individuals and business owners will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Laurel City Council for a three-year term. There are seven (7) spots available.
