The City of Laurel, Department of Public Works, is continuing to keep our streets and pathways safe for all to travel on. We are alerting you to some upcoming improvements. Currently the City has several streets scheduled for new paving surfaces, and other future repairs.
In the coming months improvements will be done on Carroll Avenue for milling of the edges of the street, a 2” pavement overlay for the entire width of the street, manhole and valve box adjustments. Contractors will also repair any uneven or broken concrete sidewalk and curbing.
A raised crosswalk at the west end of Carroll Avenue with enhanced cross walk signage and lighting for pedestrians crossing 7th Street to the Library from Carroll Avenue will be installed.
Portions of Fourth and Fifth Streets will be re-designed from Main Street. Park Avenue from 9th to Phillip Powers, Morton Place and Stanely Place as well as Compton Alley (Alley #22) in the 300 block of Compton Avenue running from Compton to Talbot Avenue.
Additional work is planned for Park Avenue 6th to 8th Avenues, Saratoga, Van Dusen Road, Carriage Hill, Eighth, First and Little Montgomery Streets.
During the repairs residents may be required to park elsewhere. Contractors will place No Parking signage 48 hours prior to beginning the work and detailing the dates and times that no parking will be permitted on the designated streets.
