The City of Laurel Education Advisory Committee was created and established by Resolution No. 5-18, passed by the Mayor and City Council on September 24, 2018. The Committee is made up of eleven (11) members; five City of Laurel residents; two members of a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the greater Laurel area; two members of the general public; one member of the City Council and one member of the greater Laurel area business community, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.
Authority
This Committee is charged with strengthening the relationship between the City, Prince George's County Board of Education, local schools, and organizations providing educational services to students in the City of Laurel and the greater Laurel area. The committee will help the City identify positive and meaningful opportunities to influence student achievement.
