Officer-Worn Cameras

The Laurel Police Department has been employing officer worn body cameras since 2012. The camera provides a recording of incidents from the officer's point of view and can provide valuable evidence in criminal cases. Videos cannot be altered or edited in any way. Every Laurel Police Department officer, including patrol, specialty units, detectives, and command staff, are equipped with the Taser Axon cameras.

Our program has been covered extensively by local, national, and international media and has served as a model for other law enforcement agencies nationwide. For more information on the program, contact Sergeant Jesse Conyngham at 301-498-0092.
