Basement Finishing
Building Plans detailing the proposed construction are required and shall include wall framing details and dimensions.

Decks & Patios
Site plan must show the location of the proposed deck or patio including dimensions and distance to property lines. Framing plans are only required for decks.

Demolition - Residential
All demolition permit applications must be accompanied by cut-off letters from all major utilities.

Driveways
Site plan must show the location of proposed driveway.

Fences
Site plan must show the proposed fence location.

Fireplaces
Chimneys must be 6 feet or less in width and cannot extend more than 18 inches into any minimum yard setback.

Garages
Site plan must show the proposed garage location on the lot including dimensions and distance from the main house and property line setbacks.

Interior Renovations
Plans shall be uploaded via the online permit portal as a single PDF file.

Pools (including Hot Tubs & Spas)
A site plan must show the proposed pool location including dimensions.

Porches
Site plan must show porch with dimensions and extension from house.

Residential Additions
Plans for additions of two-stories or more must be signed and sealed by an architect or engineer licensed in the State of Maryland.

Retaining Walls
Retaining walls less than 2 feet high do not require a permit.

Roof Sheeting Replacement (Townhouses Only)
Fire-resistant treated materials must be used in replacement sheeting.

Sheds
Site plan must show the location of the proposed shed including shed dimensions and distance from the main house and property lines.

Walkways & Sidewalk Paving
Site plan must show the location of the proposed walkway or sidewalk.
