The City of Laurel’s Department of Public Works will soon begin improvements to the municipal parking lot, replacing the existing wooden curbing with durable concrete curbing. This project, carried out by Calvert Concrete Ready-Mix, is scheduled to begin on Friday, December 13th, weather permitting.
Work will start near the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and proceed along the swale fronting West Street. On the same day, crews will begin replacing curbing on the opposite side of this bay. On Monday, December 16th, and Tuesday, December 17th, work will continue in other areas of the Municipal Building parking lot.
To facilitate construction, parking adjustments will be required. On Friday, December 13, 2024, parking will be prohibited in the area reserved for visitor parking. Beginning Monday, December 16, 2024, vehicles parked in the bay furthest from the building will need to be relocated to provide access for curb installation. Only areas with wooden curbing will be affected during this process.
