City of Laurel Sustainability Plan

Over the past two years, following extensive collaboration and numerous meetings with diverse Focus Groups, the City of Laurel developed a comprehensive Sustainability Plan. Guided by community input, four foundational pillars were identified: People, Planet, Prosperity, and Peace & Partnership. These pillars serve as the framework for advancing Laurel’s long-term sustainability goals.

To bring these principles to life, Sustainability Action Groups (SAGs), have been formed:

• Composting Ambassadors – promoting waste reduction and composting initiatives.

• Voice, Vision, Volunteer (This group is in the process of being revamped) – engaging residents to amplify awareness, foster collaboration, and encourage volunteerism.

Together, these efforts aim to move the City’s sustainability message forward and create a resilient, inclusive, and environmentally responsible future for Laurel. 

The Sustainability Plan was reviewed and adopted by the Mayor and City Council on July 14, 2025. The City of Laurel would like to thank the community members, stakeholders, and partners whose invaluable contributions and support have made this Sustainability Plan possible.
